The role of the NBDM is a field based position responsible for securing new business resulting from leads generated by the MDE’s (Marketing Development Executives) and SDR’s (Sales Development Reps). There is also an element of self-generating leads.

How You Can Help Us

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Take overall responsibility for securing new customer business; outbound for M (Major) & K (Key) customers, inbound R (Regional) customers.
  • Map customers and identify key stakeholders within these clients.
  • Prioritize opportunities.
  • Promote the company's products/services addressing or predicting clients' objectives.
  • Prepare and deliver sales pitch to prospects about solutions in face-to-face meetings.
  • Identify appropriate solution for customer based on requirements and observations and pull together a proposal for presentation. 
  • Make further recommendations where required in response to customer feedback.
  • Work collaboratively with Regional Account Managers (RAMs) during handover phase for new clients. 
  • Proactively self-generate leads via cold calling in allocated territory, in collaboration with Sales Development Executives (SDEs).
  • Attend relevant trade shows to target potential customers providing leads for Market Development Executives (MDEs) to target.
  • Work collaboratively with Key Account Managers (KAMs) and Regional Account Managers (RAMs) providing support where required across K, M and R customers.
  • Ensure all internal systems (CRM) and databases are updated in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Actively participate in internal and external meetings where attendance is required.

Scope of Impact

Depending on the maturity and geographic size of their main entity the NBDM role will have a defined area circa 60 to 100 sites.

What We Would Like You to Bring to Our Team

Knowledge, Skills & Experience


  • A proven track record in a skilled business development sales role.
  • A proven track record of identifying key stakeholders and establishing strong working relationships.
  • The ability to overcome objections and identify solutions to help secure the sale, while always remaining diplomatic and trustworthy.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills (written and oral), with the ability to adjust their style to the audience. 
  • IT literate and a good working knowledge of CRM systems. 
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • A proven track record of sales negotiations and closing deals.
  • Strong business acumen.
  • A clean drivers licence. 
  • The ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects with a strong attention to detail.
  • Serve as a product expert by educating assigned customer base on new and existing products.
  • Willing to travel as the role requires up to 50% overnight travel. 


  • Previous experience within the life safety or barrier protection industry and/or working with EH&S individuals. 
  • Working knowledge of NetSuite CRM.


  • Minimum of 5 years of work experience in business development working directly with large end users. 
  • Proven track record exceeding growth goals.
