Door Protection

Workplace transport site safety dictates that internal or external building entrances should have separate doorways for vehicles and pedestrians. It is unlikely that pedestrians will cause any serious damage to doorways but vehicles, such as fork lift trucks or goods vehicles, can all too easily be the cause of damage to doorway or entrance edges, both at the sides and top.

Edge damage caused by vehicle impact to a simple structural opening forming a traffic doorway or entrance/exit can be costly. If the doorway is fitted with a high speed roller shutter door the cost of such damage is likely to be significantly more expensive. Provision of suitable products to prevent doorway or entrance edge damage occurring due to vehicle impact, whilst not legally essential, from a damage repair and maintenance cost saving point of view is both highly desirable and sensible.

The A-Safe Height Restrictors and Bollards, either used separately or together, offer a cost saving, effective and durable method of preventing costly damage to traffic doorways and entrances. Other A-Safe products can be used at the entrance and exit sides of traffic doorways to offer important additional safety protection for personnel or pedestrians who are in the vicinity of the doorway.

The two main A-Safe products that are used to provide and prevent traffic doorway and roller shutter door edge impact damage are the Height Restrictor, providing full doorway perimeter edge protection, and The 200OD and 225OD heavy duty Bollard versions to provide ground level edge and structure protection. These two products can be used separately or together to prove the required level of protection.

Applications

Height Restrictors

To provide full perimeter edge protection, at one or both sides, of structural traffic doorway openings or doorways fitted with roller shutter doors.

Bollards

The 200OD and 225OD heavy duty Bollard versions provide edge and structure protection to a height of 1200mm above ground level.

Other Products

Barriers may be required at doorway entrances and exits to prevent personnel and Pedestrians walking straight onto the traffic route passing through the doorway. Suitable A-Safe products for this purpose, depending on the type of traffic using the route, would be Pedestrian Barrier, Traffic Barrier with Pedestrian Rail Attachment or Impact + barrier.

In situations where workplace transport site safety measures ensure that personnel and pedestrians are kept far enough from the traffic route passing through a doorway barriers may be required at doorway entrances and exits to mark the traffic route through the doorway and to keep vehicles away from the doorway edges. Suitable A-Safe products for this purpose, depending on the type of traffic using the route, would be Traffic Barrier, Ground Traffic Barrier, Impact Barrier or Double Rail Traffic Barrier.

A-Safe Door Protection Products offer many benefits:

• A range of products to protect doorways of varying dimensions to a required level determined by the type and speed of vehicles passing through the doorway.
• Coloured yellow they are highly visible so vehicle drivers can easily see where they need to be positioned to pass safely through the doorway.
• Their inherent flexibility ensures high impact protection and provides, often significant, reductions in both damage repair and maintenance costs to doorway openings, doors if fitted, vehicles and the protection products themselves
• At doorway entrances and exits, provides strong lightweight barriers to clearly designate a traffic route
